Bulgaria denies sending Hezbollah pagers through its territory – media

Bulgaria has denied reports that pagers intended for Hezbollah were transported through its territory and subsequently detonated in Lebanon. As reported by the Bulgarian media channel bTV, citing sources from the State Agency for National Security, no such smuggling took place.

However, only funds intended for Hungary were transferred via Bulgaria. According to sources, the amount of the transfer was 1.6 million euros. According to the authorities, these funds may be associated with activities related to Hezbollah.

According to the Alexey Zheleznov Telegram channel, employees of the Bulgarian Ministry of the Interior, together with state security services, have launched an investigation against the company Norta Global Ltd, registered in Sofia.

The company is suspected of being involved in organising the supply of pagers to Hezbollah, but no evidence has been provided so far.

Earlier, Kursor reported that Orban’s press service responded to information about Hungary’s involvement in the pager bombings.

The Hungarian government has strongly denied allegations of involvement in the production of explosive pagers that were supplied to Hezbollah.

Spokesman Zoltan Kovacs said the Hungarian company involved in the case acted only as an intermediary. According to him, there were no production facilities at its registered office and the company itself was run by a single employee.

Kovacs also stressed that these devices were never located on Hungarian territory. His original statement read: “These devices have never been on Hungarian territory.”
