The president of the Burgos Provincial Council, Borja Suárez, yesterday praised the province as a “generator of renewable energy” and advocated the creation of a new industry linked to this type of energy. This was indicated during his speech at the institutional event held in the town of Quintana Martín Galíndez, Burgos, on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of the Province of Burgos.
Regarding the demands, the president of the Provincial Council addressed the Provincial Council and the Government to ask for more investment in roads and means to maintain security in the villages. Likewise, he referred to the medical diploma and asked for the “commitment” of the rectorates so that they “reach an agreement”, reports Ical.
In terms of infrastructure, he wanted to refer to a project in which the province is involved “emotionally”, such as the Direct Train, a “desire” for so many people and that “we must move forward together”.
Borja Suárez also took the opportunity to announce that the budget for 2025 “will increase and be higher” despite the fact that local governments “will be subject to a more rigorous and responsible spending rule”.
The leader of the provincial institution reflected on the situation in the province and faced the criticism that resulted from the reduction of the Provincial Plans by many mayors. He clarified that these “do not replace local or regional funding, nor the duty of the Provincial Council to ensure the financial stability of the entities”.
Concerning the integral water cycle, Suárez recognized that through European funds he would finance works “worth several million dollars” in 37 localities. In this sense, he specified that in terms of heritage, “it is the uniqueness” of the province, which is why it is necessary “to obtain a return” in the management and maintenance of the assets of which disposes of the province.
