The fall of trees from the snow caused dozens of cars in Moscow and surrounding areas. Several trees also fell on the railways, which led to the movement of electric trains in at least one direction. Electricity was also disconnected from some residential areas from wire breaks.

Moscow set a rain record on Thursday, May 1, for the first time in 116 years.

Meteorologists explained that within just 12 hours after Thursday an unprecedented amount of rain fell by 24 mm, which is equivalent to 40-45% of the monthly rain. Thus, the previous record (21 mm), which was recorded in 1909, was destroyed.
