Valladolid is preparing for Christmas and its festivities, and in less than a month the streets are ready to fill with people and colors. The assembly has already unveiled certain ornaments, such as the great gifts that frame Santiago Streetthe main commercial artery of the historic center of the city, but it will be this Thursday, November 28, almost a month before Christmas Eve and a few hours before “BlackFriday”, when the ornamentation which extends over nearly 70 streets of the city will be illuminated.
It will be from 7:00 p.m. that the 2.6 million light points spread throughout the city will shine. In addition to the aforementioned Santiago Street, Portugalete Square, next to the Cathedral, will once again take center stage. There, last year’s astonishing “Palace of Light” – which reminded many of the entrance to Seville’s April Fair – has been replaced on this occasion by arches that will lead to a giant nativity scene .
One more year, the Iluminación Ximenez company took care of the entire installation, as proposed by the City Council, which incorporated for the first time ornaments in some central streets such as San Lorenzo, Pedro Niño and Dulzainero Angel Velasco. Its result is visible from this Thursday from the official inauguration by the mayor of the city Jesús Julio Carnero.
