calls on the PP police leadership to testify

The judge of the National Court Santiago Pedraz summoned to testify the former Secretary of State for Security of the PP government as the subject of an investigation Francisco Martinezas part of the complaint filed by Podemos against the so-called “patriotic police”.

Martínez’s statement, also heard in the Kitchen case, was set for the following day, the 28th.

Pedraz also called to testify, also as part of the investigation, the former deputy operational director of the police Eugenio Pino, José Ángel Fuentes Gago, Andrés Gómez Gordo and Germán Rodríguez Castiñeira.

These are the first races agreed within the framework of the complaint filed by Podemos for allegations of prospective investigations unrelated to the judicial control of the people who made up this political formation.

The party founded by Pablo Iglesias filed its complaint on October 30, 2023 for crimes of criminal organization, revelation of secrets, embezzlement, prevarication and falsification of documents.

According to Podemos, under the leadership of Francisco Martínez and Jorge Fernández Díaz, the Ministry of the Interior dedicated itself to carrying out “prospective investigations” and “unrelated to any police interest” that attempted to harm, among others, Podemos . All this, according to the political party, to then disclose information to certain media and falsely alter public opinion.

The complaint also referred to the appeal PISA report (acronym for Pablo Iglesias Sociedad Anónima), an alleged police report alluding to an account in the name of the then director of Podemos in the bank Euro Pacific Bank Limited. The conclusions of this file turned out to be false.

Last February, Pedraz admitted that the complaint had been processed, although partially, considering that “from the narrative of the complaint, there is no indication that all the defendants participated in their actions with the stated criminal purpose” . [les] imputed”.

It is for this reason that he has for the moment excluded the former minister from the investigation. Jorge Fernandez Díaz, Ignacio Cosidó, Bonifacio Diez Sevillano, José Manuel García Catalán, Manuel Vázquez López and Mariano Hervás, although Podemos included them in its list.

“It should be noted that neither Minister Jorge Fernández Díaz nor the Director General of Police, Ignacio Cosidó, report anything other than the hypothesis that, due to the functions they hold, they should know and authorize the facts This accusation is insufficient to admit the complaint against them”, reasoned the judge, who however does not exclude that as the investigation progresses, evidence against them could appear.
