Camarero announces promotion plan for Valencian rural women in 2025

The Vice President of the Generalitat and Minister of Social Services, Equality and Housing, Susana Camarero, announced a Plan for the promotion of rural women in the Valencian Communitywhich will start with an initial allocation of 20,000 euros, and whose objective is to finance programs aimed at training women in rural areas, promoting entrepreneurship and guaranteeing the reconciliation of personal, family and professional life, as well as as family co-responsibility.

The vice-president participated, with the Minister of Agriculture, Water, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Barrachina, in the national day “Leadership and entrepreneurship of rural women”, organized by the Confederation of federations and associations of families and women in rural areas. (AFAMMER), on the occasion of International Rural Women’s Day which is celebrated on October 15.

In her speech, the Vice President spoke about the challenges women face today as conciliation, the wage gap or the breaking of glass ceilings and stressed that these challenges are accentuated for rural women “who encounter additional difficulties”.

For this reason, he highlighted the Consell’s commitment to women and in particular rural women, through policies and programs focused on equality, access to education and professional training, as well as strengthening support networks and recognizing the contribution of women to rural development.

Global policy

Susana Camarero explained that this support materializes in a comprehensive policy promoted by all departments of the Consell and that its objective is to promote equal opportunities.

In this sense, he listed some measures such as free education from 0 to 3 years oldpromoted by the Ministry of Education, tax reductions or maternity aid.

He also recalled that his department promotes actions such as the Co-Responsible Plan, with more than 16.7 million euros, aimed at providing childcare services in municipalities, with the aim of facilitate the integration of women into the world of work. .

Likewise, he emphasized that equality attributes one million euros to promote the women’s associative movement and for the promotion of equality through different projects, with emphasis on those related to rural women.

“We promote equality and professional integration of rural women in all local entities of the Valencian Community,” said Camarero, emphasizing that “with all these lines of work that we are developing from the administrations in collaboration with the associations, “We seek to achieve social progress through equal opportunities, for women in general and in rural areas in particular.

Finally, the vice-president thanked AFAMMER for the organization of this national day which “represents an opportunity to reflect and recognize the role that rural women play in our societies” and valued the work of this association which part of more than 15 international organizations and It was founded over 42 years ago and has 195,630 members..

“Entities like AFAMMER give meaning to feminist associations which have been fighting for many decades to advance in the defense of the interests of rural women,” she underlined.

For his part, the Minister of Agriculture, Water, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Barrachina, highlighted that “Valencian rural women play a key role in the development of our cities and regions , in the social cohesion of our rural environments and in the construction of a better future for the primary sector of the Valencian Community.”

“Rural women are authentic transmitters of values, they are fundamental for sustainable development and the preservation of rural communities. They are not only guardians of the territory and biodiversity, but also an essential pillar of the family and agricultural economy,” added the councilor.

The Ministry of Agriculture will award next year 200,000 euros to promote the role of rural women in the Valencian Community. “This initiative aims to strengthen the presence and participation of women in agriculture, livestock and fishing, by offering them financial support so that they can develop innovative and sustainable projects,” concluded the advisor.
