Rumors are circulating on social media that teachers of students who perform poorly at the Olympics will be warned.
In the publications made by users it was mentioned that this will bring negative consequences and that teachers will not send their children to the Olympic Games so as not to damage their reputation.
On the topic Oku.AzEducation expert answering questions Ramin Nuraliyev said that it is not right to punish teachers for a student who does not show results at the Olympiad:
“Teachers who prepare students for the Olympic competitions are appointed by decision of the Pedagogical Council and the school management. These teachers prepare students from the beginning of the school year until the Olympiad. At this time, teachers are selected more experienced and committed so that the school can achieve success. Teacher punishment for a student who does not perform well in the Olympiad It turns out that the teachers of the State Examination Center (DIM) should be punished. This is not true and Education? “There is no such approach in the law.”
He highlighted that, depending on the format of the contest, only a part of tens of thousands of students achieve success:
“So, does this mean that the teachers of tens of thousands of students who did not succeed in the Olympiad should be punished? It is possible that the school management said something like that in absentia. But it is illegal to punish for this in an act official.”
R. Nuraliyev said that a teacher cannot show behavior such as not sending a student to the Olympiad if it is for his own well-being:
“Registration of students for the Olympiad is carried out electronically. First, a list is drawn up and it is determined which student will represent the school. Then the selected teacher prepares it for the Olympiad. The teacher cannot send the student to the Olympiad in pursuit of their own interests. Furthermore, if teachers are warned that they will be punished for failure, they hesitate and are not enthusiastic about preparing children for the Olympic Games.
It should be noted that since November 26, electronic registration for participation in the Republican Olympics began. The registration process will continue until December 9.
The district (city) stage of the Republican subject Olympiads will be held on December 28 for computer science grades VIII-IX, December 29 for grades X-XI and December 22 for other subjects in predetermined centers.
The main goal of the Subject Olympiads is to provide students with quality education, increase their interest in knowledge and strengthen their self-confidence, identify those who are distinguished by their talent and creative thinking in individual subjects, determine measures to organize consists of the development of its potential opportunities, to create a basis for preparing students for the choice of specialty and profession.
The Republican Olympiads in which students of grades VIII-XI participate are organized into eight subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, Azerbaijani language and literature, geography and history.
The Olympiad consists of two stages: district (city) and republic. The republic stage takes place in semi-final and final rounds.
