Bicycle lanes are built on the main streets of the city and special parking lots are installed. It can also significantly contribute to the prevention of traffic jams.
I wonder if a citizen can use public transport with his personal scooter or bicycle.
According to information received by the Baku.ws “hotline”, there are some difficulties in using public transport with this type of means.
“I bought an electric scooter for personal use. However, they don’t allow you to fold it on the intercity train, bus or metro,” the complainant said.
A request has been sent to the Baku Metro. The spokesman for the institution, Bakhtiyar Mammadov, said in a statement that the rules for using the Baku Metro are a document that came into force with the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Here are the duties and prohibitions of passengers in the Baku Metro. Article 5 raises the question of the dimensions of goods transported in the metro. In total, the length of the cargo can reach up to 220 centimeters. The sum of the dimensions of length, width and height must not exceed 200 centimeters:
“In this case, the passenger can transfer his/her luggage to the metro station. Clause 9 regarding bicycles states that it is prohibited to bring a bicycle without a cover to the metro station. This is because if an item (bicycle, scooter) that is not wrapped, fixed, has a length greater than the above-mentioned dimensions and without a cover is transported to the metro station, it is prohibited to use it in the metro.
The metro official also noted that riding scooters, inline skates, skateboards and similar devices on the metro is prohibited, as specifically stated in the rules of use. They may only be transported in the manner provided for in the previous clause:
“In the metro, each of these and other issues is taken into account from the point of view of passenger safety and comfort. For this reason, the rules for using the metro are modified at different times.”
