The beginning of autumn is accompanied this year by an astronomical event that will delight science and astronomy lovers, and it is specifically the comet C/2023 A3, also known as Tsuchinshan-ATLAS. All the studies and projections carried out in recent months indicate that it is an extraordinary comet, to the point that it could be one of the most the brightest comets of the last hundred years. All this has led the scientific community to call it “the comet of the century.”
The key dates to enjoy this comet will be the last days of September and the beginning of October, being of such magnitude that it can be seen with the naked eye. A comet that will be visible especially from the northern hemispherewhich means that Andalusia is a perfect place to enjoy it.
The date to note is September 27th, when what is called perihelion will take place, which is the moment when the comet will either disintegrate or survive, meaning that if it survives, October 12 and 13 These will be the best days to see it, since it will be the time when it passes closest to Earth.
As usually happens in these types of occasions, the best option is to go to remote places, preferably in the mountains, where there is little light pollution, and thus be able to enjoy the show. One of these places in Andalusia is, for example, the Sierra Morena, a place that is the reserve and the Starlight Tourist Destination the largest in the world.
