Carlos Mazón announces new tax deductions for births and adoptions for incomes up to 30,000 euros

He president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazonguaranteed further tax cuts in the first general policy debate of the 11th Legislature this wednesday in the Valencian Courts.

Among them, he announced new deductions for birth and adoption for low incomes, i.e. with limits of 30,000 euros in individual declarations and 47,000 in joint declarations.

“We will at least double the current amounts of the deduction for birth or adoption in the Valencian Community, the amount of which increases as the family responsibilities of taxpayers increase,” he said.

In this way, the head of the Consell said that it would go from the current 300 euros to 600 if it is the first child; at 750 if it is the second and at 900 if it is the third, and so on.

According to Mazón, these improvements will also be transferred to the foster care deduction, “whose beneficiaries will increase by including all the modalities, such as the delegation of guardianship in case of adoption.”

In addition, it will include the host families as beneficiaries of other deductions from the autonomous section of personal income tax which were previously limited to other family arrangements.

He mentioned the deduction for non-occasional care in nursery schools and early childhood education centres of the first cycle for children or children placed in foster care under 3 years of age; the deduction for reconciling work and family life; and the reduction for the purchase of school supplies.

So, the president indicated that the tax treatment is “homogeneous and equitable for all currently existing family models.”

In this sense, to maintain the commitment to “the families who need it most”, the freeze from the receipt of the water fee for 2025 for the third consecutive year.

Tax reform

The president of the Consell delivered his speech in the first general policy debate of the 11th Legislature after being left in the minority due to the dissolution of Vox, on the question of whether he will be able to approve the new budgets, and on regional issues with financing as one of the main themes.

Similarly, the president of the Generalitat has guaranteed that in the remainder of the legislature, progress will continue in “the biggest tax reform in Spain“initiated by its Council “for middle and low incomes”.

He has already argued that the tax cuts approved last year – first with the bipartisan PP-Vox party and since July only with the PP – represented a Savings of 199 million for Valencians. And he assured that it will be possible to increase incomes through job creation.

“These deductions are concentrated on middle and low incomes,” he stressed, which provoked laughter and complaints among the PSPV and Compromís deputies.

“The death tax ended on the first day, in the first plenary session of the Consell and in accordance with what we promised the Valencians,” he reiterated. He also highlighted that 18,000 Valencians have paid 166.7 million in inheritance and gift taxes during the last full financial year of Botanical.

At the same time, he called for a freeze on university registration fees, the maintenance of free regional transport and a 50% reduction until the end of the year or reduction in real estate transfer taxes.

Furthermore, he stressed that there are more than 112,000 declarants benefited from deductions on health or sports expenses: “For the first time, average or low income earners can deduct their expenses related to oral, visual or mental health, rare, complex or chronic diseases”, as well as “in the event of acquired brain damage or Alzheimer’s and ALS”.
