Carlos Moyà reveals when Rafa Nadal decided to retire

I am still digesting the news of the withdrawal of Rafa Nadalseveral people around him spoke out about Manacorí’s decision.

First it was his uncle and former coach Tony Nadalwho revealed how he broke the news to his family and that bittersweet feeling of wishing his ending was differentAnd.

He talked about the moment he decided it was time to hang up his racket. Carlos Moya in an interview on ‘Onda Cero’.

Nadal’s current coach recalled what happened at the Paris Olympics last summer, his “last hope.”

“At the Olympics, he had a little problem a few days before playing, and on top of that, he played with Djokovic in the second round. It was his last great hope“, began the former player.

“It’s been a tough year. After the Games, he takes a few weeks off and then he realizes, I think, that this will be his last year,” he added.

For Moyà, Rafa found himself without incentives: “I was clear about that. Left without clear goals. The decision is made at that moment. When we talked and he told us, we more or less had an intuition that it was going to happen like that.”
