After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prixthe last of the Formula 1 season, Carlos Sainz will drive the Williams for the first time. The team itself confirmed this in a statement. Carlos, despite still being under contract with Ferrari for the rest of the year, was released.
“Williams Racing is pleased to announce today that Carlos Sainz will join the team for the upcoming end-of-season tests in Abu Dhabi, Marking the first steps in their preparation for the 2025 season, this first opportunity will allow Carlos and Williams to begin building their relationship,” Williams’ note said.
This will be the first time that the Spaniard will ride on his new machine and alongside his brand new partner: Alex Albon.
“The testing session at Yas Marina This will be a valuable opportunity for Carlos to begin to integrate into his new team environment and drive the FW46 for the first time. Carlos will drive for Williams alongside Alex Albon in 2025, forming one of the most formidable driver line-ups on the grid,” the note said.
Sainz will have a difficult year next year. This is the harsh reality. It will be a car capable of winning races like the Ferrari to a Williams with which he will have to be content to fight for points positions.
