During the early elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, cases of the use of fake journalists’ identity cards were detected at several polling stations. The “journalist card” allegedly issued by the Agency for the Development of Mass Media of the Republic of Azerbaijan was illegally prepared by roughly repeating the elements of the original copy.
Oku.Az This is according to a joint statement by the Ministry of the Interior (MIA) and the Media Development Agency.
The joint information reminds that the procedure for issuing a journalist’s license is regulated by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Mass Media” and the “Rules for Conducting Registration of Mass Media”, and its form was approved by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
“Journalist card is an official document with a unique registration number consisting of a combination of numbers and (or) letters issued by the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan to journalists who meet the requirements of the relevant legislation. Identification of the card The holder scans the QR code placed on the back of the card and enters it into the Media Registry; it is possible to determine the authenticity of the certificate.
We inform you that the falsification and use of a journalist’s card in any form and method entails liability as defined by law. The relevant investigations are currently being carried out by the Ministry of the Interior, and a legal assessment of the incident will be made,” the information emphasizes.
