Castellón Provincial Council expresses its rejection of single funding for Catalonia

The ordinary plenary session corresponding to the month of August and held this Tuesday, began with a minute of silence on the part of the provincial corporation in response to the case of gender violence that occurred this Monday in the city of Castellon.

During the session, a motion presented by the Provincial Government was approved in which the implementation of a single financing system for Catalonia is rejected, considering that it violates the principles of equality between Spanish citizens and interterritorial solidarity, both fundamental in the Spanish Constitution.

The deputy and spokesperson for the Popular Group, Sergio Toledoregretted the vote against the PSOE and Compromís groups and said that this measure, which would be part of the agreement between the PSC and the ERC for an investiture agreement, “represents a privilege for a few that will harm all the inhabitants of Castellón and that “this can jeopardize the sustainability of public services in our province.” Faced with this situation, the provincial deputy stressed that “the Provincial Council of Castellón “We cannot look away while citizens from inside and outside our province are treated differently”, “We do not ask to be more than anyone but not less either and the minimum is that in this defense of the equality of the people of Castellón with the rest of us Spaniards were all united”, he pointed out.

On another note, the ordinary plenary session approved a motion to promote the installation of inclusive changing tables. Thanks to the agreement that obtained votes in favour of the provincial government, the opposition groups PSOE and Compromís, and the abstention of Vox, the Castellón Provincial Council urges the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, with the collaboration of the Generalitat Valenciana, to prepare a study with the support and advice of Valencian associations and entities that work to improve the quality of life of potential users of inclusive changing tables. Likewise, strategic locations in each municipality should be studied to be able to install inclusive changing tables. As indicated by the deputy for Social Protection, Marisa TorlaOnce the corresponding study has been prepared, “from the Provincial Council of Castellón, we will go hand in hand with the different competent administrations in this matter and according to the capacities of each administration, to collaborate in the progressive installation of inclusive changing tables”. “This is an action with which we can move towards an inclusive and egalitarian society towards which we are working”, added the provincial deputy.
