THE Minister of Sustainable Development, Mercedes Gómezassured that the region is “very close” to finding a solution to the valorization of manure which allows “with complete peace of mind” to lift the moratorium which prevents the installation of macro-pig farms of more than 2,000 heads throughout the region, valid until December 31 this year.
Gómez, in response to questions from the media during a press conference, clarified that The Regional Administration works “hand in hand with the pig sector”“, and not only breeders “but also the industry itself”, so that the installation of these macro-farms “is compatible with what Castilian-La Mancha society demands today”.
“We are working so that, together, we find the most appropriate systems, the technical improvements available for the valorization of slurry and that, in this way, they pose absolutely no problem and that the moratorium that we have imposed on ourselves can be lifted with complete peace of mind precisely to find these solutions together,” he added.
Regardless, Gómez considered that these facilities, which he did not want to call macro-farms but rather “high-capacity pig farms”, are “in some cases necessary, fundamentally, to obtain the raw material necessary for the very powerful meat diet. industry that we have in our autonomous community and which generates many jobs.
