Exports from Castilla y León increased by 11 percent in the first seven months of 2024 compared to the same period of 2023 (-0.9 percent in Spain) and reached 10,970.5 million euros while imports rebounded by 7.7 percent (-1.7 percent in the rest of the country) to 9,607.4 million euros.
According to data published by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business and collected by Europa Press, the trade balance showed a surplus of 1,363.1 million euroscompared to 964.9 million in the same period of the previous year. Castilla y León recorded the third highest increase in the country’s exports over the cumulative period, after the Canary Islands and Extremadura.
The increase between January and July It is due to the automotive sector, which increased by 24.8 percent to 3,966.0 million, followed by the non-chemical semi-manufactured products sector (7.6 percent to 2,052.2 million) and food, beverages and tobacco, with 4.8 percent more to 1,930.0 million.
For their part, imports saw the main increase in non-chemical semi-finished products with 8.7 percent more to 999.9 million, followed by automobiles (4.7 percent to 2,573.3 million) and food, beverages and tobacco, with 2.7 percent more to 1,093.2 million.
These data leave a positive balance in the three sectors: automobile (1,392.6 million), non-chemical semi-finished products (1,052.3 million) and food, beverages and tobacco (836.8 million).
Furthermore, Castilla y León recorded the second largest year-on-year increase in exports in July, with 27.3 percent more and 1,721.2 million euros, surpassed only by Asturias (44.7 percent).
