Castro del Río hosts a new edition of the olive craft fair in Ars Olea

Castro del Rio will host, from October 11 to 13, a new edition of Ars Olea, a fair that has become a reference in the craft sector and which brings together artisans from all over Spain in each edition, so that it has succeeded to attract many tourists who take the opportunity to get to know this rural town. The president of the Provincial Institute of Economic Development (Iprodeco) of the Provincial Delegation of Cordoba, Felix Romerostressed that “this is a consolidated fair at the provincial and regional level, which will continue to have the support of the provincial institution, since we are firmly committed to the valorization of sectors like this and the recovery of OUR traditions“.

In this sense, Romero emphasized that “we believe that the training of the youngest is essential so that these jobs are perpetuated in successive generations, and for this it is important to provide modernity and make everything related to crafts profitable.

In this way, emphasized the deputy, “we help people to stay live in their cities and minimize the impact of the depopulation of small towns, thus contributing to the economic development of the province.

For his part, the mayor of Castro del Río, Julio Criadoemphasized that in this edition “we wanted to give a different approach to the fair, highlighting the role of women throughout history, as transmitters of knowledge and as artisans.”

Workshops

Criado highlighted that “we are going to have an extensive program of activities on different themes, within the framework of the historic district of La Villa”. The exhibition will open its doors on Friday 11 and the recognition of “Artisan of Honor” will be awarded after the event to Pedro Barea.

During the weekend there will be, among others, recycling, creative ceramics, crochet and family craft workshops; permanent exhibitions, such as the “Damián Ponce” art room inside the 18th century building of La Casa Mendoza, dedicated to the master ceramist or the Antonio Villa-Toro Museum, in the Antigua chapel of Saint Acisclus and Saint Victoria. Likewise, guided tours and open days of museums will be organized.
