CC asks Torres for “transparency” to resume negotiations on the distribution of migrant minors

The Canarian Coalition asked the Minister of Territorial Policy and National Migration Coordinator, Ángel Víctor Torres, to carry out an exercise of “transparency unblock negotiations for the reform of the immigration law and provide a response to the situation of more than 5,000 unaccompanied minors who remain in the Canary Islands.

The secretary of the National Organization of the CC and president of the Nationalist Parliamentary Group, David Toledo, stressed that the “will is not manifested” by words but by actions and invited Minister Torres “to show the letter that he himself confirmed having sent to the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula Von der Leyen, asking for help from Spain for the “management of humanitarian drama who faces the islands alone.

Until now, he stressed, “the only thing that is clear is that after the failure” of the negotiations by the PP, “there has been neither diligence nor will on the part of the State and Minister Torres for resume dialogue and reach an agreement“with the PP which allows “to respond to the dramatic situation experienced by hundreds of children”, who are still awaiting a response from the central government.

For Toledo, Torres’ announcement that he has sent a letter to the president of the European Commission is “not enough”, as is “the State’s announcement that it has requested the deployment” of Frontex n is not enough, “not even the commitment of more funding” for the islands to deal with the migration crisis because, he stressed, “the reality is that European aid has still not arrived in the Canary Islands, Frontex has still not not been deployed and The 100 million euros have still not been reached to which the Vice President and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, committed.

However, he alluded to the “lack of credibility” of a Spanish government which “continues to leave the Canary Islands alone in the face of a humanitarian tragedy”.

For his part, Minister Ángel Víctor Torres is confident that negotiations will be able to resume “soon” with the Popular Party on the modification of article 35 of the Immigration Law, recalling that the government has already sent a letter to the president of the European Commission. Union, Ursula von der Leyen, as agreed in the interministerial commission and thus respecting the last condition posed by the PPwhich he invited to set a date to reopen negotiations.
