The general director of forest fire prevention, Rosa Tourís, highlighted that the rains falling in recent hours in the Valencian Community did not affect the municipalities concerned by DANA on October 29.

Thus, he confirmed it in statements to the media to convey the information provided during this Thursday’s meeting of the Integrated Operational Coordination (CECOPI).

In this regard, he explained that the actions carried out this evening by the new DANA produced “a summit” of services in the area of ​​the Valencian region of La Safor and towards the Alicante areas of Las Marinas, with several emergency services, and the rains also caused accumulations of water in the industrial zone Reva de Riba-Roja and in certain points of this Valencian city that “are being resolved from the first moment”.

Regarding the province Castellónstressed that throughout the night works took place in Benicarló, Vinarós, Peñíscola and that numerous evacuations were carried out on the ground floor, but that “normality is being restored”. Teams of environmental agents and forest firefighters were also deployed in the most sensitive areas of ravines and boulevards to monitor the evolution of the channels at night and through this new DANA.

THE search for dead at sea following the previous storm remains suspended for the second consecutive day due to unfavorable weather conditions and strong waves that do not allow the operation to operate. The search efforts are organized around a strip of around 200 kilometers long by around 60 kilometers wide between the mouth of the Turia river and the outskirts of Alicante, where have been mobilized over the last two weeks almost of 200 crew members who join the maritime activity. and air resources.

On the other hand, he explained that the removal of goods and sludge in the affected areas was less last night due to the weather situation and fell to 10,500 tons. However, he highlighted that this Thursday it was possible to once again increase the number of sludge extraction trucks, with a total of 94 already in operation on the ground, which allowed the system to purification to currently reach a 64% of its capacity.

“We are therefore moving forward with our objective of intensifying sludge evacuation work from urban centers,” he underlined.

Thus, he recalled that the deposits of sediments removed in the areas affected by Dana at the mouth of the Turia river were authorized with the “aim of facilitating the cleaning and reconstruction works of these areas after the analyzes confirmed their safety.” . It is essentially earth and sand carried by the current.

At present, the emergency personnel remaining on the ground are 2,791 firefighters deployed, including 8,608 personnel from the Armed Forcesand more than 800 civil protection volunteers throughout Spain. A contingent of firefighters from Portugal and France also joined the operation.

In the area of ​​citizen security, 9,728 agents of the National Police and the Civil Guard work in the area, in addition to 500 members of the various local police forces and 130 members of the Generalitat Police. Likewise, a group of 70 environmental agents from the Community of Madrid have joined and contribute to the work of supporting the Civil Guard in the Albufera area, as well as forestry and environmental agents from the Department of the Environment.

He finally insisted on the importance of following health recommendations and using a mask, gloves, protective glasses, appropriate shoes and long sleeves.
