CECOPI increases its monitoring of the arrival of a new DANA in the Valencian Community

The Integrated Operational Coordination Center (Cecopi), established in Valencia before the DANA which affected different localities in this province on October 29, called for extreme precautions in the face of new rains and the maritime storm which is expected in this territory in the coming days.

Thus, monitoring of the new episode of meteorological instability that will affect the Valencian Community has been reinforced. This was indicated by the general director of forest fire prevention of the Generalitat Valenciana, Rosa Tourís, who explained that one of the “important points” that were discussed in this meeting was “l evolution of weather situation for the next few days“, especially from this Tuesday afternoon and taking into account the possibility of bringing heavy rains and coastal phenomena.

“The Emergency Coordination Center has reported the alert for rain and coastal phenomena,” said Tourís, who emphasized that “it maintains situation 2 of the flood plan throughout the province of Valencia.”

The Director General declared that “the development of this episode is particularly worrying given the vulnerability of the affected territory» by DANA on October 29, as well as that of “people who work in the area”. He then cited the recommendations made to the population.

Given the expected unfavorable coastal phenomenon, it was indicated that homes must be protected from possible seawater invasion; that you should not approach boardwalks, breakwaters or cliffs, and that you should not drive vehicles on roads near the beach. Likewise, it is requested that no type of water sport be practiced.

Concerning the predicted precipitation, please note that you must be informed of the risk level of each municipality and if the place where you live or work is located in a flood zone. Likewise, we must stay away from the banks of rivers and ravines and don’t stay on the bridges.

Faced with phenomena like the expected one, it is added that the highest points of the area where everyone is located must be located in order to go towards them in the event of flooding. The Emergencies of the Generalitat Valenciana have highlighted that all these tips are gathered in site 112 of the Valencian Community. “Please stay informed“, underlined the general director.
