“Many people don’t know. So, after “On the Caspian Shores” came out and we won in “Golden Autumn”, I received an offer from the “Parni iz Baku” team to go to Moscow at that time. The late Anar Mammadkhanov He suggested that we also do something musical. So in 1992, I went to Sochi and then to Moscow as a member of “Parni iz Baku”.
This Oku.Azin an interview with one of the members of the rock group “Dream”, founded in Sumgait in 1987, a long-time resident of Russia Brave Nematov saying.
– Brave, it’s been a long time since you’ve been on stage. You came back with “Only You.” How did you come to this decision?
– The song “Taki sen” was left as a draft from last year. Half a year ago he met a rapper nicknamed “Trino” and he really liked him. He said that I am also participating in the project and will sing at a party. Then a young woman named Laman (Ilamuna) joined the project. He himself is both a composer and a singer. I sang the verse and then everyone did their part. It’s better this way, because there’s no one left in the frame. Sing how you feel. The song was ready in two or three months. We put together the drafts, recorded them and it’s been a week since the song came out. I think it’s very popular on social media because hundreds of people share videos of that track. (laughs)
– To be honest, after receiving the interview, I am thinking about filming it and sharing it. Let’s start with the traditional questions: where were you born, where did you study?
– I was born in the Gusar district. Then I lived in Sumgait. I graduated from school number 17 in Sumgait. It was located in the eighth microdistrict.
– We know you as a member of the group “Yuxu”. How did you meet the other members of the group?
– Ibrahim and Chingiz, other members of the “Yukhu” group, lived in the neighboring neighborhood, and Namig in another microdistrict. In short, we were all children of Sumgait. (laughs)
– Do you have musical education?
– No, there isn’t any. At that time I graduated from the Polytechnic Institute (now Azerbaijan Polytechnic University – ed.), then I went to Russia. There I received two higher education degrees: one in law and the other in a municipal institute. I stayed and worked there and still work there.
– But before the group “Yukhu”, were you dedicated to music?
– Definitely. Like I said, I don’t even have a musical education. Music is just my hobby, not my art. I graduated from law school and still work as an attorney.
– Did the other two members of “Yuxu” have musical education?
– Only Namig (the guitarist of the group Namig Nagdaliyev – ed.) from the group “Yukhu” had a musical education, the rest of us had no musical education.
– What else can you say about the group?
– I can say that I just came from the army. Since we stayed in the same neighborhood as the group members, we all met up and hung out in the evenings. One day Ibrahim (the band’s bassist, Ibrahim Emin – ed.) said he wanted to form a group. He said they also give us a place to practice. He asked me if you, that is to say me (laughs), would like to try yourself as a vocalist? I was young, I agreed. Then we begin. Then we wrote five or six songs.
At that time, a famous competition was held in Baku – the “Golden Autumn”. Those who had just begun to study were almost the first to participate in that contest. Faig Agayev, Aygun Kazimova and Azer Zeynalov also participated in that competition. There we also sang the song “On the shores of the Caspian” for the first time. Everyone liked it.
– What happened then?
– So… I can share with you an interesting fact. Not many people know it. So, after the release of “On the Caspian Coast” and after we won “Golden Autumn”, I received an offer from the “Parni iz Baku” team of the Fun and Jokes Club. At that time the team was supposed to go to Moscow. The late Anar Mammadkhanov suggested that we do something with music. So, in 1992, as a member of “Parni iz Baku”, I went with the team to Sochi and then to Moscow. I still have relations with Bahram Bagyrzadeh.
– And then?
– Then nothing. (laughs) I went to Russia and the children went to Türkiye. After the children left for Türkiye, they called me too. There a contract was signed with one of the companies. After signing the contract, they had to get us both a residence permit and a work permit. But they did neither. I lived there illegally for two years. That is, as soon as the period ended, we went to Bulgaria and then came back. They could arrest us at any time and deport us from the country. Then I left the group and returned to Russia, and the group stayed in Istanbul. After me, Zaur Abdullayev joined them as a vocalist. Then the group dissolved and each one went their own way.
– How many years have you been living in Russia?
– More than 30 years.
– I wonder if you worked as a lawyer in Azerbaijan.
– No, because when I was in Azerbaijan I did not have legal studies. I graduated from the “Polytechnic” and was an engineer. I studied law in Russia.
– Have you ever sung as a musician at weddings?
– I have never sung at weddings. (laughs) Hopefully, I won’t read it at all.
– I would like to ask you a question about your family. How many children do you have? Do you have a passion for reading?
– The family issue is a closed topic for me. So I don’t want to say anything about it. Let this question remain unanswered. (laughs)
– Let him stay. There is no problem. Thank you for agreeing to be an interlocutor!
– I thank you too!
