“Vodka is sold on the market for one, two, three manats. However, the excise tax for a liter of vodka is 4.8 manats. How is it possible that vodka with an excise tax of 4.8 manats sold for one or two manats?”
Oku.Az reports that this was stated by the president of the Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship in today’s plenary session of the Milli Majlis Azer Amiraslanov saying.
He said that this factor is related to tax evasion:
“Because the cost of the product must take into account the costs of quality production. Then come the next stages. This includes the issue of profitability in the wholesale sector. This is determined so that there are no cases of tax evasion.”
“There are pillars of our national economy. This includes the oil industry. There are also manufacturing companies that define the non-oil industry. Millions of funds have been spent on establishing this industry. However, due to such unfair and illegal entrepreneurship , unemployment is created, legitimate jobs are taking a back seat, and the industry’s contribution to the economy is declining.
In any case, the market economy is an economy with fair, not unfair, competition. The market economy is not based on illegal entrepreneurship and must fulfill its obligations to the state. “This law (“On the protection of consumer rights” – ed.) is based on this and the listed aspects are reflected in the draft,” the commission chairman added.
