ChatGPT developers announced the launch of a new function called the training mode, which is aimed at promoting the responsible academic use of tools in the light of growing cases of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in universities.
The new function, which is available through the “Tools” button in the platform, allows users to study in an interactive one, step -shag, similarly to a classroom, instead of providing ready -made answers and resumes.
In the example published by the ChatGPT Openai developer, the robot responded to a request for help in understanding Bayes theorem, asking user questions about mathematical education and his learning purpose before continuing a step -by -step explanation.
An increase in a copy leads to technological intervention
The launch of this function coincides with the growing problem in the academic field regarding the illegal use of intellectual tools. In a study of violations of academic integrity in the United Kingdom, Guardian said that in 2023-2024 there will be about 7,000 cases using artificial intelligence tools, and 5.1 cases per thousand students compared to 1.6 cases last year.
According to Openai, more than a third of young colleges in the United States use ChatGPT data and companies showing that about a quarter of messages sent by the bot is related to training, training or homework.
Encourage understanding instead of ready -made solutions
According to the developers, the study mode not only provides answers, but also seeks to help students understand and analyze matter, encouraging interaction with problems and problems, and not rely on ready -made solutions. However, the system does not prevent users from ignoring this function and request immediate answers.
Jaina Devani, the head of the international education Openai, said that the new function is a step towards students’ leadership to use ChatGPT as a useful training tool, emphasizing that the company does not want to abuse technologies in academic contexts.
“We want to highlight the responsible methods of using Chatgpt in such a way that it is favorable. We do not believe in the use of these tools for copying, and this is a step towards minimizing this phenomenon, ”said the Devani.
She emphasized that to combat the phenomenon of academic copying, a “wide discussion in the field of education” is required to consider the mechanisms of evaluating and determining clear leading principles for the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Openai explained that the training mode, also known as study and training, is designed to help students perform their work, prepare for exams and study new topics. It can interact with images, allowing users to load previous tests and process them in cooperation with the tool.
The company confirmed that the operation was developed in cooperation with teachers, scientists and education experts, but warned that in some negotiations there may be “inconsistent behavior and mistakes”.
