The Ahumada-Friends of the Civil Guard Circle organized an event this Friday to present a check worth 26,000 euros to the children and widows of the two civil guards murdered in Barbate (Cádiz) last February after being run over by a drug boat. The event, in addition to members of the association and relatives of the victims, also brought together colleagues of the agents.

The two deceased civil guards were David Pérez Carracero43 years old, member of the Rapid Action Group (GAR), married and father of two minor children; And Miguel Ángel González Gómez39 years old, assigned to the Special Group for Underwater Activities (GEAS). His murder also left his daughter, aged just 13, an orphan.

The fundraising carried out by El Círculo Ahumada-Friends of the Civil Guard through private donations also includes a donation of 2,000 euros that the association has already allocated as first aid to the two families.

According to the organizers of the demonstration, in this non-profit association founded in 1988, “we could not remain impassive “before the atrocious murder of his companions.”

The call, which took place at the Cultural Center of the Armed Forces, located in Madrid, was chaired by the president of the Circle of Ahumada, Juan José Brihuega, accompanied by the vice president José Miguel Fernández and its general secretary, Javier Ortiz Talamante.

One of the donors present at the event was the Civil Guard Juan José Mateosauthor of books like “Pikoletos” and “Innocentes” and honorary member of the association, which assures this newspaper that it has donated all profits from 2023 sales to orphans. Initially, the Civil Guard arrested six members of the crew of the anti-drug boat that Kiko el Cabra, a resident of La Línea de la Concepción who had a criminal record, was patrolling on the night of the events. Until a report from Central Operational Unit (UCO) ruled out that it was their boat that hit the agents. And Karim El Baqqali, 32, allegedly on the run in Morocco, became the main suspect.

Last September, Karim El Baqqaliwas arrested after surrendering to authorities and then sent to the temporary prison, where he is today, for two alleged crimes of murder. The action was completed two weeks ago by the arrest by the Civil Guard of two other members of the crew of the anti-drug boat piloted by Karim El Baqqali. Both detainees had criminal records and international arrest warrants, as Benemérita reported in a press release at the time.
