China condemns Israeli aggression against Lebanon

Beijing has expressed concern over the explosions of communication devices in Lebanon and strongly condemned the Israeli airstrikes on Lebanese territory. The relevant statement was made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a meeting in New York with his Lebanese counterpart Abdullah Bou Habib, TASS reports.

“We are extremely concerned by developments in the region, in particular the recent explosions of communications equipment in Lebanon, and we firmly oppose indiscriminate attacks against civilians. We strongly condemn actions that violate the fundamental norms of international relations.” – said the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Wang Yi pointed out that countering violence with violent methods will not solve the problems in the Middle East and could lead to even greater humanitarian disasters.

He recalled that what is happening in Lebanon is “a manifestation of the secondary effect of the conflict in the Gaza Strip.”

“China believes that it is necessary to ensure a permanent ceasefire and complete withdrawal of troops, as well as the practical implementation of the “two states for two peoples” project. Only in this way can we pave the way for a definitive solution to the conflict.” – Wang Yi concluded.

On September 17 and 18, numerous incidents of wireless telecommunications devices being detonated occurred in Lebanon. The Shiite movement Hezbollah blamed Israel for the incident, calling it a “virtual declaration of war.”
