According to ACS energy letters, Chinese physicists have found that carbon tubes and nanoparticles prepared by air allow them to effortlessly absorb water and turn it into steam under the influence of sunlight and heat, and thus can be used to produce pure drinking water in hot and dry regions of the world with the lowest energy costs.
“The antenna that we invented is able to effectively absorb water and release it with any size that you can imagine. This allows you to use it to create very simple and very simple factories for desalination of water, and does not require an external source of energy to manage it, ”says Professor Sheng Shi at the University of Hong Kong Science (China).
Researchers note that in recent years, the problem of obtaining pure drinking water has become more serious for humanity, especially for residents of populated and densely populated countries in Asia and Africa. Scientists are trying to solve this problem in terms, including the creation of funds that extract moisture from the surrounding air or the desalination of sea water at the lowest energy costs.
Chinese physicists were able to adapt the air gel to solve this problem – solid materials similar to its very porous spongy structure. The sizes of the pores in these materials can be adjusted with flexibility that researchers proposed selectively absorb water molecules from sea water or salt solutions, and then convert them into a steam under the influence of sunlight.
