China is raising relations with Slovakia to the level of strategic partnership

China’s relations with Slovakia are reaching the level of strategic partnership. This was announced today, November 1, by Chinese President Xi Jinping after a meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.

According to Chinese media, the politicians discussed economic cooperation, also in the energy, transportation, logistics and infrastructure construction sectors. In addition, it was about improving mutual political trust, as well as promoting cultural exchange and strengthening international cooperation. In addition, it became known that Slovakia is ready to introduce direct flights between Bratislava and Beijing, and Slovaks will be able to travel to China without a visa for up to 15 days.

As Robert Fico noted after negotiations with the Prime Minister of China Li QiangThe parties also agreed to a strategic partnership that will deepen cooperation not only between governments, but also between business sectors. At the same time, he highlighted two large Chinese projects currently being implemented in Slovakia: the construction of a Volvo car plant in the east of the country and the preparatory work on a plant for the production of batteries for electric vehicles in Nitra. region. At the same time, Fico noted that until the end of his trip he will focus not only on strengthening economic relations between countries, but also on foreign policy issues.

Furthermore, Fico stated that one of the key topics during his trip to China was the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, China can play a decisive role in solving the situation. In turn, the Chinese leader attached great importance to Bratislava’s fair attitude towards the conflict between the two countries and called on other countries to help achieve peace.

Let us remember that the Slovak Prime Minister’s trip to China will last until November 5. He is accompanied by representatives of about 70 companies. During the visit, Fico will also visit Shanghai, where he will participate in the opening of the China International Import Expo.
