The senior representative of the Chinese mission in the World Trade Organization said that Beijing was ready to conduct discussions on commercial policy, including customs and responsibilities of support, which Washington defined as obstacles for the reform of the World Trade Organization.

The delegate added that China listened to the “every word” that the United States said in the “World Trade Organization” about its commercial practice, and it is open to discuss customs duties, industrial policy and some advantages that it receives from its position as a developing country, regarding the wider negotiations on the 2026 ministerial assembly in Cameroon.

The official refused to reveal his identity. The Chinese mission is not declared the identity of delegates, the title of which is less than the ambassador. Beijing called his ambassador to the World Trade Organization in April last year to become commercial negotiations, and the vacant position has not yet been held.

Comments of the delegate arise after the most famous trade tension between the two largest economies in the world; From the complex tariffs introduced by the United States, and response measures taken by China.

Washington claims that there can be no serious reform of the “world trading organization” until China and other large economies abandoned privileges known as “special and preferential circulation” provided by developing countries, which, according to the United States, gives an unfair advantage.

Some large economies, including China, are defined as “developing countries”; What gives him access to the advantages of “special and preferential treatment”, such as the imposition of higher customs definitions and the use of support.

The delegate explained that the situation with China as a developing country is not subject to discussion, but in the upcoming negotiations this may abandon the “special and preferred appeal”, as recently on fishing and local fishing.

The delegate said to Reuters: “In the upcoming negotiations, in general, I do not think that China will ask (special and preferred treatment),” said Reuters delegate. Nevertheless, Keith M. Rockwell, a former representative of the “World Trade Organization” and a well -known researcher in the Henrich Foundation, casts doubt on the fully refused “special and preferred treatment” of China in areas such as agriculture.

The United States oppose the selection of countries with the advantages of “special and preferred treatment”, and he wants China to completely abandon them.

The delegate confirmed that the openness of China in the discussion of support to ensure that the working environment is the largest justice, provided that it is met in good faith. He added that she would not accept any attempts to change her economic system.

After positive trade negotiations in Geneva and London, China expressed its openness to discuss customs definitions in the “World Trade Organization”. The delegate said: “We welcome the return of the United States to (World Trade Organization). We are ready to revise (Article 28) if the United States submit their requests here in (World Trade Organization). Article 28 of the Agreement of the “World Trade Organization” allows you to change their customs obligations under certain circumstances; This provides a possible course of modifications.
