China provides effective assistance to Afghanistan in the fight against hunger

One of the UN agencies, the World Food Program (WFP), has been able to provide assistance to almost 250,000 hungry Afghans with the help of China in recent months. Ariana News reports this.

The WFP report said Chinese aid purchased more than 2,000 tons of food, including wheat flour and cooking oil, yellow peas and salt, which were distributed to more than 35,000 families or nearly 250,000 people across Afghanistan.

“Entire areas of Afghanistan are experiencing desperation and hunger,” the economic and trade affairs advisor at the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan said today. Ma Chen Guang at a ceremony in Kabul. “China will continue to cooperate with the World Food Program to provide food assistance to hungry Afghan families who need help to survive.”

“China’s assistance comes at a critical time when huge funding shortfalls have jeopardized WFP’s work in Afghanistan. Last year we had to exclude 10 million Afghans from receiving aid and this summer, due to the current funding crisis, 11 million Afghan citizens did not receive it. This included more than 2 million mothers with children who did not receive special nutrition to combat dystrophy. Afghanistan remains the hungriest country in the world and more than three-quarters of the country’s population cannot afford a nutritious diet and suffer from chronic malnutrition, the WFP Afghanistan director said. Xiao-Wei Li. “Afghan families across the country need constant food assistance to survive this winter.”
