China studies Russia’s experience in fighting Western sanctions: media

Using the example of Russia, he studies the experience of countering Western sanctions. This is reported by TASS citing the Wall Street Journal.

According to the newspaper, the Chinese authorities have created a special interdepartmental group that studies the impact of sanctions on Russia and periodically prepares reports for the country’s leaders.

“The purpose of such activities is to draw lessons from the Russian experience to mitigate the impact of Western restrictions,” – publication notes.

In particular, for this purpose, as indicated in the material, Chinese officials allegedly periodically visit Moscow and meet there with representatives of the Central Bank of Russia, the Ministry of Finance and other departments.

As one of the newspaper’s sources stated, China is also interested in “Russian initiatives to develop domestic production” under the pressure of sanctions.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Beijing hopes that if the situation around Taiwan escalates, the United States and its allies will impose sanctions against China similar to the measures taken against Russia in connection with the Ukrainian conflict.

At the same time, as the newspaper’s sources emphasize, the work of this group does not mean that China is preparing an invasion.

When asked by reporters to comment on this, China’s Foreign Ministry stated that Beijing is committed to “cooperating with all countries in the world, including Russia, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.”
