As the United States prepares to announce final plans in the coming days to impose tariffs on imports of electric vehicles and other Chinese products, Chinese experts are calling on the US side to make a goodwill gesture as pragmatic economic and trade cooperation between the world’s two largest economies benefits the United States and the world at large, as reported by the Chinese newspaper Global Times today, August 31.
Experts said high tariffs by some Western countries will have limited impact on Chinese EVs in the long run as Chinese automakers have great potential to expand into other overseas markets, including BRICS countries and the Global South.
