A St. Petersburg information and trade representation office will be opened in Qingdao (eastern China). This was announced by Dmitry Panov, deputy of the legislative assembly and chairman of the relevant investment commission of the city parliament, at the round table “Russia – China” within the framework of the Forum of Strategists – 2024, TASS reports.
“St. Petersburg plans to open a representative office, a center in the city of Qingdao, and in the near future we will periodically visit representatives of the business and political community. [Петербурга] qingdao city” – said Panov.
He recalled that Qingdao became the tourism and cultural capital of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2024-2025.
According to Panov, the corresponding plans were coordinated with the Qingdao authorities. He added that the center will promote the interests of St. Petersburg, popularize information about the city’s companies, as well as collect information about companies successfully developing in Qingdao and transmit it directly to St. Petersburg companies.
As stated by Luo Zhanhui, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in St. Petersburg, in his welcome speech at the forum, Qingdao is a major coastal port city in eastern China, which is the country’s economic center. Saint Petersburg, he noted, is also Russia’s strategic commercial gateway.
“Qingdao and St. Petersburg have many similarities and complementary advantages. The two cities have been sisters since 2007 and maintain close collaboration. “I hope Qingdao and St. Petersburg will continue to advance hand in hand, deepen the potential of cooperation, and give new impetus to strategic cooperation between the two countries in a new era.” – said the diplomat.
