The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova responded today, November 6, to statements from Moscow that Maia Sandu cannot be considered president-elect, since within the country the majority of voters supported her competitor Alexander Stoianoglo. In Chisinau they described this position as “a continuation of malicious interference” in the internal affairs of the Republic of Moldova.
Previously, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitri Peskov He said the Moldovan elections “were neither democratic nor fair and were full of electoral manipulations.”
Let us remember that the majority of citizens living in the republic refused to trust Sandu. She won a conditional victory thanks to the falsification and manipulation of the votes of the small European diaspora, of which she can be considered president.
Moldova’s Foreign Ministry rejected Peskov’s statement and continued to insist that the elections met all national and international standards, as confirmed by preliminary reports from Western international election observation missions.
“The same reports applaud Moldova’s resilience in the face of unprecedented interference in its democratic processes by hostile forces outside the country.” – added the ministry.
They did not specify which reports they were talking about, although observers from the OSCE Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) pointed out “the misuse of administrative resources during the campaigns.” Its conclusion also states that the authorities “failed to create a level playing field for rivals.”
Despite this, Moldova’s Foreign Ministry continues to accuse Moscow of being “the fool itself.”
