Journalist Rufik Ismayilov was interviewed by Parvana Valiyeva, member of the Milli Majlis, member of the Women’s Council of the West Azerbaijan Community. He spoke of the genocide and deportations committed against our compatriots in the last century. He said that in the years 1905-1906, 1918-1921, 1948-1953, 1988-1991 Western Azerbaijanis were forcibly expelled from their ancestral lands. On the basis of the document signed by Stalin, our compatriots were massively transferred from the mountainous areas to the lowlands. At that time, many Azerbaijanis who were exposed to climate change died. As a result of the policy of violence and deportation carried out by Armenian nationalists against our people in 1988-1991, Armenia became a mono-ethnic state.
The parliamentarian drew attention to the facts of the return of deported peoples around the world and expressed that Western Azerbaijanis also want to peacefully return to their historical lands. He said that Armenians not only committed genocide and deportation against people, but also caused great damage to our material and cultural heritage, to nature and even to our cemeteries.
Deputy P. Valiyeva spoke about his ancestral homeland, the Vedi district, including the Khalisa village. He said that historically Azerbaijanis lived in this region and in these villages. In the following years, although Armenians were moved from abroad to those settlements, Azerbaijanis still had the demographic advantage. Despite this, Armenians preferred the policy of discrimination towards our compatriots.
Deputy P. Valiyeva also referred to the tragedies committed in Khalisa 36 years ago. He said gangs of former Armenian Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan carried out armed raids on villages inhabited by Azerbaijanis and subjected the peaceful and disabled population to physical and mental torture. Armenian blogger Svetlana Margaryan later spoke extensively in her articles about the atrocities and crimes committed against our compatriots.
Deputy P. Valiyeva stressed that the reorganization of the community of West Azerbaijan, at the same time as the Supreme Commander and President of Muzaffar Ilham Aliyev both at the meeting with a group of intellectuals from West Azerbaijan in the new building of the Community and at the inauguration of the monument to Ashiq Alasgar in Baku, his comments on the return to our historical lands gave great joy and hope to our compatriots who yearn the homeland They believe that the president who gave the Karabakh victory to his people will definitely guarantee the return to Western Azerbaijan. In the end, the deputy emphasized that, regardless of the field in which he works, every Azerbaijani must make an effort to draw the attention of the international community to the issue of West Azerbaijan.
It should be remembered that the objective of the Chronicle of Western Azerbaijan project is to preserve and promote the name of our historical lands, as well as the deportation of Azerbaijanis by Armenians, place names that existed in those territories, but their names have been erased. and countless examples of underground and surface material culture: ancient settlements, necropolises, mounds, remains of castles, palaces and fortifications, caravansaries, bridges, funerary chests, stone crosses, battering rams. the discovery of statues, temples, churches, mosques, pyres and hearths, and the transmission to the world community of facts confirming that the area is a pure Oghuz-Turkish settlement.
