Today the next edition of journalist Asgar Ibrahimov’s program “Life Story” was prepared on Baku TV within the framework of the West Azerbaijan Chronicle project.

The program “I was not transferred to the party because I wrote a letter to my relatives in Kars” is dedicated to the life story of Shahbaz Balakishiyev, a resident of Eller village, Amasiya district, Aghbaba district.

He talked about his childhood and the history of the town and said that although the original name of the town was Ellaroyugu, the Armenian government changed it to Eller in 1931. According to him, Azerbaijanis living in Armenia were constantly under pressure and persecution from Armenian nationalists: “Especially after the establishment of Soviet power in 1920, the situation became more difficult. Many Azerbaijanis were forced to leave their homeland. I have seen the election many times I wrote an article about the problems in our village. The chairman of the District Executive Committee called me and banned the publication of my articles. Finally, in 1988, the policy of genocide of the Armenians reached its climax. Sh. Balakishiyev said that for 35 years he has lived far from his hometown, Eller, and dreams of it every day: “Nostalgia is an incomparable pain. This longing will never be erased from my heart.”

In general, this life story is a mirror that reflects the difficulties experienced by hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis who were deported from Western Azerbaijan, the bitter fate of the refugees and, at the same time, the desire to return to their homeland.

It should be remembered that the goal of the Western Azerbaijan Chronicle project is to preserve and popularize the name of our historical and ancient lands, as well as the deportation of Azerbaijanis by Armenians, place names that existed in those territories, but their names have been erased, countless examples of underground and surface material culture are revealed: ancient settlements, necropolises, mounds, remains of castles, palaces and fortifications, caravansaries, bridges, funerary chests, statues of horses and rams, temples, churches, mosques, pyres and hearths, and Facts confirming that the area is a purely Turkic-Oghuz settlement are communicated to the world community.
