The Town Hall of Illescas (Toledo) presented its programming around the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Womenwhich will take place throughout the month of November.

Among the activities in the spotlight, on Friday, November 8, the Seniors Day Center will host a Cinema Forum at 10:00 a.m. with the screening of “Single and mother in life”, as reported by the Town Hall in a press release.

From November 12 to 29, the Central Library will present the exhibition ‘You too, change is in you’ of Médecins du Monde, an exhibition that will be inaugurated on November 12 at 10:00 a.m. by the equality advisor, Inmaculada Martín de Vidales, who will analyze the causes and consequences of gender violence, focusing on the impact of the system patriarchal and on the effects of this violence on women’s health.

On November 13 at 5:00 p.m., in the same library, a meeting of women’s associations entitled ‘Activate your voice! Voices of Equality to prevent gender violencewhere the work of these associations in the fight for equality will be valued.

From November 18 to 30, a series of awareness-raising actions will be carried out in public spaces, including the placement of ribbons in municipal buildings, the lighting of emblematic places, a special broadcast on Radio Illescas and the reading of a manifest in the Plenary Hall on November 28.

On November 25, on the Market Square, a gathering is planned in memory of the victims of gender-based violence, from 12:00 p.m., with a minute of silence at the door of the Town Hall, next to an information stand of the Women’s Association. “La Amistad” Association, where awareness materials will also be distributed.

Later in the day, two short films by filmmaker and activist Mabel Lozano (“AVA” and “Biografía del cadaver de una mujer”) will be screened at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Central Library, where Mabel Lozano, recognized with two Goya prizes, will address sexual trafficking and exploitation.

Illescas sports will also say no to gender violence on Sunday, November 24, with the football matches of CD Illescas and CF Talavera de la Reina, as a sign of solidarity and rejection of violence in the sporting field.

Throughout the month of November, Illescas students will participate in educational workshops with approaches such as “Social networks, sexuality and masculinity”, taught by the anthropologist David Kaplún to high school students, and “Responsible uses of ICT”, taught by the
