An observation mission from the Commonwealth of Independent States plans to participate in monitoring the presidential elections in Belarus. This was announced today, October 30, by the Secretary General of the CIS, Sergei Lebedev.
“At the BRICS summit in Kazan Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko announced the decision that the presidential elections in Belarus would be held on January 26, all its CIS partners listened to this statement with interest. And I confirmed the readiness of the Executive Committee, after receiving an invitation, to form an observation mission of representatives of the Commonwealth countries to monitor the preparation and conduct of the elections.” – said.
Let us remember that the date of the next presidential elections in Belarus was known on October 23. The main day of voting is scheduled for January 26, 2025. Initiative groups of potential candidates, including the current head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, are currently registering.
