The City Council of Logroño definitively approved in its plenary session this Tuesday the modification of the Noise Ordinance which banned the consumption of drinks in the streets of the old town after noon and until eight in the morning.
This is further proof that the municipal team is “working with determination” to improve the acoustic situation in the old part of the city, defended the Councilor for the Environment, Jesús López, who counted in the vote with the support of all the groups except Vox, which abstained.
This amendment to the Ordinance has already been provisionally approved and now comes into force after the final approval “of something so simple” despite the fact that “the opposition wants to debate it,” he said.
Less noise in the old town
“Maybe we don’t make everyone happy with our work, but we don’t doubt it. are the right steps“, with the suspension of reception and terrace licenses or the modification of ordinances,” said the mayor, who stressed that the City Hall “is doing everything possible” to ensure that there is no noise in the old town.
But it is the case “without becoming the scourge of the hotel industry”, but “seeking that hoteliers and neighbors can coexist logically.” “We do not think they should lecture us on how to address a problem whose cause does not lie in the hotel industry, but in those who do things they should not,” he stressed.
Socialist Group councilor Carmen Urquía stressed that “we must be vigilant to take other measures to mitigate noise” because “measures must be taken to protect neighbors, since not taking measures makes them complicit in the problems caused by leisure activities.
