Real Madrid is forced to stop the construction of the two municipal car parks that it has been building for months. Madrid City Hall has just ordered it, after the announcement this Thursday of the decision which forced a halt to the work currently carried out by the white club.
The town hall communicates to Real Madrid “the need to stop work, adopt safety measures in advance and replace the surface so as not to harm mobility in the environment”, explain sources from the Mobility sector, responsible for the concession. the two car parks. He must do so immediately, whether or not he appeals the court decision that ordered his suspension this Thursday.
Both Madrid City Hall and the club chaired by Florentino Pérez have ten days to appeal this legal decision, rendered by Court number 30 of Disputes-Administrative. The court announced this measure, ratifying the judgment of May 23, which annulled the municipal call for tenders which had awarded Real Madrid the construction and operation of two municipal car parks.
This concession provides for the opening of a parking lot under Castellana and another under Padre Damián for more than 2,000 vehicles. It includes the construction of a tunnel intended to absorb most of the traffic generated by the infrastructure and in which buses would also park.
Two car parks are being built thanks to a competition that the Town Hall convened at the request of Real Madrid and in which only the entity chaired by Florentino Pérez participated. The concession includes the operation of the infrastructure for the next 40 years, as well as the use of 20,000 m2 of adjacent public space for the organization of events. Two neighborhood associations denounced this concession before the court, which was annulled by the aforementioned May judgment.
The execution of the work is controversial, both due to the unfavorable judgment on the award and the development of the work itself, which a few days ago caused the flooding of some neighboring garages, according to neighbors.
At the same time, these same neighborhood associations are in conflict with Real Madrid due to the noise caused by the concerts scheduled in the stadium. The club’s general director, José Ángel Sánchez, was summoned at the end of October following a complaint for environmental crimes. The AVPB also included Mayor Almeida and the Mobility Delegate in the same authorization procedure for these events.
