CL: Record and anti-records of the last day of the first day of the league phase

The first round of the UEFA Champions League league phase concluded with six matches.

Oku.Az reports that for the first time since 27 November 1997 (6 matches) a UEFA Champions League round was played on Thursday.

The minutes and anti-minutes recorded at the meetings are as follows:

“Monaco” – “Barcelona” 2:1

Monaco ended their negative streak in the UCL (14 games without a win: 3 draws and 11 losses). It was the worst Champions League run for a team from Europe’s top 5 leagues.

Barcelona start the UEFA Champions League with a defeat for the third time in their history (Newcastle United in 1997 and Bayern in 2021).

George Ilenixena (18 years 34 days) broke the club record set by Kylian Mbappé in 2017 (18 years 63 days) and became the youngest player to score a Champions League goal for Monaco.

Ilenikhena is the third-youngest player to score in the Champions League for a French club, ahead of:

Zairi-Emery (PSG) 17 years 280 days,

Karim Benzema (“León”) 17 years 352 days.

Eric García’s red card (in the 10th minute) was the first expulsion of a Barcelona player in the history of European competitions.

“Atalanta” – “Arsenal” 0:0

Arsenal have failed to score in their last four Champions League away games in Italy.

David Raya is the first Arsenal goalkeeper to save a penalty in the Champions League since 11 March 2014 (Lukasz Fabianski).

Feyenoord – Bayer Leverkusen 0:4

This is Bayer Leverkusen’s biggest away win in European Cup/UCL history.

Florian Wirtz became the first German player to score more than 2 goals on his UEFA Champions League debut.

Florian Virts scored his first UEFA Champions League goal (4 minutes 37 seconds).

Florian Wirtz’s opening goal was Bayer Leverkusen’s first away goal in the Champions League.

“Brest” – “Sturm Graz” 2:1

Brest became the first French team to make their Champions League debut in the 21st century with a win after drawing with Lille in 2001, Montpellier in 2012 and Rennes in 2020.

“Servena Estrella” – “Benfica” 1:2

Milson (Srvena Zvezda) is the second Angolan player to score in the Champions League after Luis Miguel, who scored for Sporting Lisbon on 26 November 1997.

Orkun Kökçü (Benfica) is the first Turkish player to score from a free-kick in the Champions League since 29 September 2021 (Burak Yılmaz’s goal for Lille against Salzburg).
