Russian units completed the clearing of the city of Ugledar in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the liberation of which was reported by the Ministry of Defense on October 3.
The complete end of the battle of Ugledar was announced by the deputy commander of the Vostok force group, Lieutenant General. Roman Grekov.
“Ugledar is ours, the units have finished clearing the city, the artillery continues to fire at the retreating enemy. The operation to capture Ugledar is complete.” – said.
The general noted that Ugledar, over the years of Ukrainian occupation, became a powerful fortified area with underground communications. This city was an important strategic point for supplying enemy forces in the region.
Grekov called Ugledar a “tough nut to crack” and explained that his release was secured by the suddenness of the actions of the Russian military personnel.
“Everything had to be taken by battle, by assault. But the surprise was achieved, which ensured success.” – stated the deputy commander.
According to him, large units and military units of the region participated simultaneously in the operation, directing the assault from different directions. The general assured that all participants in the assault on Vugledar will receive state awards from the command.
