The mayor of Barcelona, Zhauma Collboni, called this Saturday from Budapest, so that he was “very seriously” in the fight against LGTBI, and warned that the ban on demonstrating pride in the Hungarian capital could occur in any other European city, such as Barcelona.
“The fact that fundamental rights and freedoms are an attack in the country of the European Union, can be held tomorrow in Barcelona,” he said before participating in a demonstration in Budapest, which was prohibited by the ultra government of the country. Collboni participates in demonstration with other European mayors and stated that cities such as “resistance”, “reactionary wave”.
Collboni called for civil society from the possibility of reducing the rights of the LGTBI team. “It seems so far that, of course, if someone from Budapest asks now only 5 or 10 years ago that one day the one that is happening now is that the march and the demonstration will be prohibited, they would not believe it,” he said.
The mayor of Barcelona warned that the ban on demonstrating pride in Budapest takes place in a “very difficult political moment” that lives around the world, and noted that this context requires “maximum attention, commitment and strength” to avoid violation of fundamental rights and expression.
“Hypocrisy”
For his part, the leader of the PP in the City Council of Barcelona, Daniel Sirera, reproached the “hypocrisy” of the mayor of Collboni to support the forbidden demonstration of the pride day, while maintaining institutional relations with the countries that pursue the LGTBI team.
“Pride of pride in Hungary is normal, but doing this, having contacted local authorities from countries such as Morocco, Palestine or Cuba, where homosexuality is punishable by a prison, is an exercise in political hypocrisy,” Sirera told the press release.
The leader of popularity in Barcelona demanded in the municipal government that breaks cooperation with those governments that do not respect human rights and require clear conditions from the point of view of freedom and equality in institutional relations.
Sirera recalled that at the holidays of Merka 2024, the City Council officially invited Casablanca, despite the fact that in Morocco homosexuals can mean up to 3 years in prison.
“The rainbow flag cannot be waved in Budapest, and at the same time gives the institutional tribute to the cities in countries that violate the fundamental rights of the people of LGTBI,” he said.
According to Sirera, the commitment to the LGTBI team should be strong and firm, because “you cannot talk about freedom if silence is preserved before those who imprison, punishes or marginalize homosexuals and lesbians only to be who they are. Closing is not respect, it is vascular, ”he emphasized.
