Part of the Valencian Community has been transformed into a post-apocalyptic scenario and the work against time in search of missing people is keeping its neighbors in suspense. This Tuesday, a deadly Dana claimed the lives of around a hundred people after falling more than 400 liters per square meter in just eight hours. An unprecedented situation which already presents itself as the worst natural tragedy the country has experienced in half a century.
Trains and buses were canceled due to the storm’s aftermath and several roads – among which are parts of the A-3 and the A-7, as well as those around the most affected villages – are closed.
Citizens are also collaborating with the region located on the Mediterranean coast and thousands of people are doing their part to help the victims of this tragedy. From Valencia, different organizations, including Casa Caridad, have set up food and clothing collection points. Likewise, the need for blood donations was reported. The Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community and the Vedat Pavilion (Torrent, Valencia) are some of the places that can be visited in this region.
However, many are looking to collaborate from other regions. In Madridtwo points have been installed – one in the capital and the other in Pozuelo de Alarcón – where shovels, buckets, non-perishable foods, water, basic necessities and clothing are collected to be transported to Valencia, both to Lucas Mallada Street, 1, Local 2, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., in San Blas.
In Pozuelo de Alarcón, the collection point is located on Calle Segundo de Mata (Renfe Pozuelo) and you are asked to drop off donations at the gate.
THE Red Cross It solicits donations via its website and provides donors with a telephone number 900 104 971. Donations of 6 euros can be sent via bizum (33512) and SMS (38092) with the word HELP.
Thousands of people have been affected by the #Dana. We work around the clock to provide them with safe accommodation and cover their basic needs. It’s time to help. If you can, collaborate!

Madrid City Hall and the Community turned to those affected by the tragedy and offered their help. The vice-mayor of Madrid and delegate for security, Inma Sanz, recalled that the capital has emergency personnel specialized in flooding, who have participated in other disasters, the latest being the earthquake in Morocco.
From the regional government – which declared three days of official mourning – a team from the Special Height Rescue Group (GERA) of the Community of Madrid firefighters traveled this Wednesday to Valencia to collaborate in the rescue and search of people . In addition, 31 members of the regional fire brigade team and Summa112 of the emergency and immediate intervention group of the Community of Madrid (ERICAM) also left for this province. The system also includes several water rescue specialists, five rescue boats, eight intervention vehicles and the Drone Unit.
