The elected Junts, Toni Comín, requested that the arrest warrant be “lifted” so that he could return and go to Madrid to sign the Constitution, in order to access his seat in the European Parliament (EP).
He said this in an interview this Thursday with ‘Vilaweb’ collected by Europa Press, where he warned that the Constitutional Court (TC) It will take several months, even a year, to resolve the appeal they presented so that the amnesty law could be applied to them, in their own terms, before which they should dictate precautionary measures.
“This court must pronounce precautionary measures, otherwise it acts impartially and respects the law,” declared the former Minister of Health, who admitted to having been surprised by the judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) to reject his appeal against the European Parliament for not having recognized him and the former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont as European deputies in 2019.
Likewise, he assured that they were “psychologically prepared for anything”, and stressed that they did not expect the inconsistency represented by the CJEU judgment with which, according to him, they seem to literally want to protect Parliament.
“The CJEU, I don’t know for what reason, entered into a very delicate situation, because perhaps it contradicted itself without realizing it,” said Comín, who insists that the judgment against former ERC member Oriol Junqueras sets a precedent regarding their immunity.
