A group of Japanese residents are suing Meta Platforms Inc. after falling victim to fraudulent ads on Facebook. filed several lawsuits against the company.

Lawsuits were filed in five local courts on behalf of 30 local residents amounting to 435 million yen (about $2.8 million), it said. We are talking about ads posted on Facebook offering to invest money in an investment fund on behalf of Japanese celebrities. In fact, none of these Japanese celebrities had anything to do with the foundation, and the foundation itself never existed. Victims claim that “Facebook” did not take the necessary measures to protect its users from scammers.
