The Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) confirmed to Judge Juan Carlos Peinado that the two chairs that Begoña Gómez co-directed in said center did not reach, in any course, 20 students.
This is what the UCM indicates in the documentation it sent to the Court of Instruction number 41 of Madrid, which is investigating Gómez, wife of Pedro Sánchez, for a total of four crimes (embezzlement, drug trafficking). influence, professional intrusion and corruption in the sector). private companies) and which investigates the relationship between the businesswoman and Complutense.
As this newspaper reported, Peinado was preparing to investigate the number of students holding the two chairs, which had a master’s degree associated with them. Because? The judge made this decision after noticing certain inconsistencies in several testimonies.
The magistrate ordered one of the witnesses in the case, Marc-Simon —deputy director of the La Caixa Foundation, sponsor of one of the chairs— to provide a report that was sent by Gómez to the entity. Nearly 250 students are included.
But first, another witness, Luis Cypresswho had taught in the said master’s degree, only mentioned about 10 or 15 students during his interrogation. As a teacher, he earned 900 euros in one year and later around 1,500 euros.
So when Simón mentioned these 248 students, the judge asked the principal where this information came from. And the deputy director of the La Caixa Foundation, who testified on August 26, mentioned this report sent by Gómez, whose incorporation into the Peinado case was soon ordered.
Shortly after, the judge asked UCM to clarify how many enrolled students were in each edition of the course.
