Congress definitively approves the reform of the law that allows Chivite to dismiss the Civil Guard

He plenary session of the Congress definitively approved this Thursday the bill which takes up the agreement concluded between the central government and that of Navarre to include road competition in the Law for the improvement of the foral regime of Navarre (LORAFNA)which had the only refusal from PP and Vox.

In this way, the majority of Congress lifted the veto that PP and Vox imposed on the Senate to this reform of LORAFNA and the Cortes Générales have definitively approved this bill and it will be sent to the Official State Journal (BOE). The first vice-president of the Government of Navarre and advisor to the Presidency and Equality, Félix Taberna, was present at the debate in Congress.

With this bill, the central and Navarrese governments they will protect in the LORAFNA jurisdiction over traffic matters for the Provincial Community, after the decision of the Supreme Court which annulled this transfer.

The two leaders agreed to amend Article 49 of the Lorafna explaining that “in addition to the powers and attributions it holds, Navarre is responsible for the execution of state legislation, as well as the functions of surveillance and traffic control.” Likewise, in article 51, a new point is added which specifies that the Provincial Police will exercise this jurisdiction.

The agreement was announced last April after a meeting between the president of Navarre, Maria Chiviteand the Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, but for its final approval the bill had to be approved by both the Provincial Parliament and the Cortes Generales.

The plenary session of the Navarrese Parliament already did this last May with the favorable vote of the UPN, the PSN, EH Bildu, Geroa Bai and Contigo-Zurekin, while the PP and Vox voted against, as happened in Congress and the Senate.
