Congress will summon Puigdemont, Rajoy, Santamaría and Villarejo in the 17A attacks commission

The congressional committee charged with investigating jihadist attacks that took place in Barcelona and Cambrils (Tarragona) in August 2017 approved this Tuesday the list of people who will be called to appear.

Among the the people who will be summoned Former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont appears, although it remains to be determined in what way. Besides him, the list also includes the former President of the Government Mariano Rajoy, the former Vice President and head of the National Intelligence Center (CNI), Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría; the director of this organization, Félix Sanz Roldán, and the former police commissioner José Manuel Villarejo.

The approved list includes a large part of the appearing parties who had requested by Junts and several of those proposed by ERC and he advanced with the support of the PSOE, Sumar and his usual parliamentary partners, with the exception of the PNV, which abstained. The PP and Vox, for their part, voted against.

As the members of this body explained, although no specific date has yet been set for the start of the interrogations, they are expected to begin before the end of October and that the first to present himself to the commission is Sanz Roldán.
