The construction and subsequent operation of nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan will be carried out under the supervision of the IAEA, said Islam Sunkar, a member of the lower house of the Kazakh parliament, during a meeting with the youth wing of the People’s Party, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
“The nuclear power plant will be under IAEA control at all stages, from construction to operation.” – said.
In addition, he said that the operation of the nuclear power plant, if approved in a referendum, would be under constant public control.
“The first thing to do is to establish obligations for any company engaged in construction. All guarantees are discussed with them in advance. We must also establish public control. This year, the country adopted the corresponding law,” – added the parliamentarian.
