On September 23, the next consular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran were held in Baku.

It was noted that Emil Safarov and Alirza Mahmudi led the delegations to the consultations.
Within the framework of consultations, the Iranian delegation was received by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov, and during the meeting the current state of cooperation between the two countries and the direction of development of such cooperation were discussed.
Officials from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the State Customs Committee and the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan took part in the event.
During the negotiations, the prospects for the development of bilateral relations in the consular field, the protection of rights and freedoms of citizens of both countries, including the possibility of providing necessary consular and legal assistance to citizens who have encountered difficulties in some areas, the delivery of internationally wanted persons, the serving of the remainder of the sentence of persons sentenced to imprisonment, and issues such as transfer to the countries of their citizenship were considered.
At the same time, the consultations addressed issues of cooperation between the internal affairs, border and customs authorities of both countries.
